Originally from East L.A., she is a theoretical physicist and cosmologist with expertise in particle physics, astrophysics, and dark matter, widely recognized for both her scientific research and her advocacy for marginalized people in physics and astronomy. Dr. Prescod-Weinstein is a theorist of Black feminist science, technology, and society studies, and a monthly columnist for New Scientist. Her first book, The Disordered Cosmos: A Journey into Dark Matter, Spacetime, and Dreams Deferred, was named a Best Science Book of 2021 by Smithsonian Magazine and a Best Nonfiction Book of 2021 by Kirkus Reviews.
