Research Interest: Language Revitalization, specifically within Anishnaabemowin, with a focus on the broader idea of public education and why our education system fails to expose adolescents to languages beyond the Western norm of English. I want to research the ways in which education systems today work against Indigenous children having access to their languages, and not only research within education systems but also the ties to location. Location in the sense of place, as well as the land itself and what role it plays in contributing to the learning process of culture and its link to language.

Fun fact: I come from my traditional home community of Manistee, MI; Odawa territory. I am 1 of 6 kids in my immediate family, with a gashi (Mom) who raised me to use my voice. Having a big family has allowed me to be very family oriented, which is a driving factor in all my decisions. A huge portion of my motivation comes from the little ones in my family. I have attended 3 Native American boarding schools all through 8th grade and through High school. Circle of Nation (Wahpeton, ND), Sherman Indian School (Riverside, CA) Flandreau Indian School (Flandreau, SD).
