Space is limited, but we will maintain a waiting list as there are frequently last-minute cancellations.</p> <h5>Checking in</h5> <p>For those of you who are able to come early on Thursday, April 24, we encourage you to attend any of the classes faculty have agreed to open to visitors. A list of available classes will be posted on this site, and will be provided in your packet. In order not to disrupt the class, please plan to arrive early and introduce yourself to the professor, and then remain for the entire session.</p> <p>Registration packets will be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Smith House, 22 HItchcock Road. Packets will include your nametag, the schedule, participant biographies, a list of open classes and meal tickets for Thursday lunch* and Friday breakfast and lunch. Your nametag will be your ticket to the reception and dinner on Thursday and closing reception on Friday. At 3:00 p.m. on Thursday we will move registration to the lobby of Fayerweather Hall, where check-in will be available prior to the opening session at 4 p.m.</p> <p>*On Thursday we recommend you try to arrive early (lunch is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) to avoid long lines. There will be a space for Amherst Today participants set aside in the Weiller Wing, just to your left as you enter the dining hall.</p> <h5>Getting to Amherst</h5> <p>Please see the college's <a href="/mm/19373"><strong>Public Transportation</strong></a> page for information about getting to Amherst by air, bus or train (including information about shuttle and limousine services). If traveling by car, see our <a href="/mm/19334" title="Driving Directions"><strong>Driving Directions</strong>.</a></p> <h5>PARKING</h5> <p>Participants will receive a parking pass in advance of the program which will enable them to park in designated areas on the main campus. All handicapped parking placards will be honored by the Amherst College Campus Police. The Town of Amherst has designated weekday <em>Permit Parking Only</em> areas in the campus vicinity. You may park in these spaces on Saturdays and Sundays only, and cars will be ticketed by the town if parked there at any other time. Metered parking is available along Boltwood Avenue.</p> <h5>Lodging Information</h5> <p>Hotel information is available on our <a href="/about/visiting/lodging">local lodgings page</a>.</p> <h5>Computer access while on campus</h5> <p>You may use one of the public computers on campus at the following locations (log on with the username "guest").</p> <ul> <li>Frost Library Lobby and A Level</li> <li>Seeley Mudd Computer Center</li> <li>Keefe Campus Center kiosks (2)</li> <li>Converse Hall kiosks (2) - on the second floor balcony</li> <li>Valentine Hall kiosks (2)</li> <li>Alumni Gym kiosk - on the balcony outside the Fitness Center</li> </ul> <p>There is wireless network access in the Library, Campus Center, the Science and Music Libraries, Webster Technology Classroom, Seeley Mudd and almost all academic buildings. Please be aware that due to the nature of wireless signals you may not receive any wireless reception in some areas of certain buildings.<br><br>In order to access both the wireless and Ethernet networks, alumni must first <a href="https://www.amherst.edu/mm/1155">register their computers</a> on the network.</p> <h5>EMERGENCY CONTACT TELEPHONE NUMBER</h5> <p>If you wish to provide family or friends with an emergency phone number while you are in Amherst, please use (413) 542-2000 (our main switchboard).
