Fall 2017 Accessible Information Workshops

The following hands-on sessions focus on creating material and information that is accessible and usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. A reprise of our August offerings, these sessions are recommended for faculty members and staff who were not able to attend previously.

Accessible Documents and Instructional Materials

Wednesday, October 18th, 10 - 11:30 a.m. -or-  Tuesday, October 24th, 10 - 11:30 a.m.

Come learn the basics of what makes a document, reading, or handout accessible to someone who uses text-to-speech or other assistive technology. We will practice creating accessible Word documents, PDF’s, and Powerpoint presentations.

Accessible Web Pages and Media

Thursday, October 26th, 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.  -or-  Tuesday, October 31st, 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Learn the basic elements of web accessibility and how users of assistive technology access the web. We’ll show you some easy Drupal tips for creating more accessible pages on the Amherst website. We’ll also look at how to make video and audio more accessible through the use of captions, transcripts, and descriptions.
