Kelly Edey died Feb. 22 from lymphoma, according to his sister, Beatrice. He came to Amherst from the Putney School and joined Chi Phi. Kelly had been a collector and student of horology since a young boy and is remembered internationally for his expertise in the history and identification of French clocks and as an archivist, scholar and authority on the works of André-Charles Boulle. He published two books: French Clocks in 1967 and French Clocks in North American Collections in 1982. Kelly was a consultant to Christie’s Inc., the J. Paul Getty Museum and the Time Museum. His clocks and watches have been on exhibit at the Frick Collection and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. 

Prior to his death, he donated his numerous important clocks and watches to the Frick Collection. A vivid obituary appeared in The New York Times which details an extraordinary classmate.
