Robbie Landon '89

As Robbie’s former roommates and as his friends for nearly 39 years, we find it impossible to convey fully the loss we feel. Robbie died peacefully on March 29, 2024, after an 11-month battle with glioblastoma, surrounded by family, and secure in the knowledge that he made the most of his 57 years. In college, Robbie was president of the Glee Club. During his senior year, he met his soulmate, Keith (Mount Holyoke ’91). In 1992, a year after he and Keith married, Robbie graduated from Harvard Law School with high honors and returned to Miami to raise a family and begin a long, successful career as a litigator.

In college, Robbie was always a step ahead, graduating with honors. Never one to procrastinate, Robbie would be done working and in bed while some of us would be starting work on the next day’s assignments. Always organized and efficient, Robbie could distill and solve complex problems easily—a quality that continued to serve him well as a lawyer. Though extremely serious about his studies, Robbie always made time for his friends. Memories of Robbie dancing on the bar we built in our social dorm room are indelible as are the many other occasions when Robbie lit up the room with his infectious smile.

A few months before Robbie died, Jim Crowley ’89 wrote, “I thought about Robbie while skiing with my kids today. I tried to channel his kindness and thoughtfulness to be a better, more patient and understanding dad. I believe it worked.” Robbie was that kind of person. He inspired you to be better by the example he set.

Robbie is survived by his wife, Keith; daughters Kirby Johnson ’18 (Paul ’17) and Claire Landon; a granddaughter, Mary; and many other cherished family members.
