The Black Art Matters Festival is a student-led celebration that highlights the work and artistic achievement of Amherst’s Black students.&nbsp;</p><p>This year the Black Art Matters Festival will include the exhibition<em>, Black Art Matters</em>, a visual presentation of student artwork on view at the Mead Art Museum from March 7–June 25, 2023. As well as a Performing Arts Showcase at the Powerhouse on March 5 at 8 pm EST.&nbsp;</p><p>Participating artists include: Alana Bailey '23, Makayla Boxley '24, Angie Camarena '25,&nbsp;Zora Duncan '23,&nbsp;Ayo Eniola '24,&nbsp;Maya Foster '23,&nbsp;Kendall Greene '24,&nbsp;Tiia McKinney '25, Osasikemwen Ogieva '25, Beluolisah (Bo) Oranye '23,&nbsp;Zachary Rivers '24,&nbsp;Maëlle Sannon '24,&nbsp;Jacinta Smith '25,&nbsp;Naila Thevenot '23, Neviah Waldron '24, and&nbsp;Abadai Zoboi '25.&nbsp;</p><p>The Black Art Matters Festival was created by Zoe Akoto ’21, and is made possible today thanks to on-campus partnerships with the African &amp; Caribbean Student Union, Black Student Union, Multicultural Resource Center, and the Mead Art Museum.&nbsp;</p></div> Tue, 31 Jan 2023 21:14:47 +0000 cgennari 873313 at https://www.amherst.edu
