Edwin Bassett died on Dec. 7, 1985, after a valiant battle. He loved Amherst and occasionally returned for visits or lectures. Those of us who knew him remember him as a gentle, kind, fun-loving and reliable fellow who would never pass a beggar or anyone else who asked without giving him/her some money. Randy Wieck ’77 gave a tribute to Ed at his memorial service.
We will always be thankful for the 31 years of love and joy he brought to the lives of his family and friends.
