AMHERST, Mass.—The Amherst College New Music Ensemble will present “American Classics,” a program of 20th- and 21st-century chamber works on Thursday, May 7, at 8 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Center at Amherst College. The event is free and open to the public and does not require an advance reservation.

The concert will feature Amherst students performing Elliot Carter’s Woodwind Quintet, Aaron Copland’s Sonata for Violin & Piano, Samuel Barber’s wind serenade Summer Music, the slow movements of Amherst music professor Eric Sawyer’s Second String Quartet and Amy Beach’s Piano Quintet in F# minor.
