AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College Department of Music will present a recital by Jennifer Koh, violin, and Shai Wosner, piano, on Thursday, April 1, at 8 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Center at Amherst College. The concert will feature the music of Mozart and Schubert and tickets for the concert will be available for reservation beginning Wednesday, March 17, through the Amherst College Concert Office.

Koh is a young, internationally recognized, Grammy-nominated violinist who has been praised for her “burning intensity and prodigious command” by the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The Strad magazine writes that Koh “supports her mesmerizing flights of fancy with a beguilingly silvery tone, fabulous technique and dead center intonation.”

At Amherst, she will team up with Wosner, an Israeli pianist whose playing is characterized by “nimble technique and dry wit,” according to The San Francisco Chronicle. The New York Times has been likewise glowing about Wosner’s work, describing it as exuding “virtuosity, determination and an infectious glee.”

Koh will also perform her groundbreaking “Bach and Beyond” program at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, in Buckley Recital Hall. The program for solo violin will celebrate Bach’s life, work and influence and include pieces by Bach, Ysaye, Saariaho and Salonen.

Call 413/542-2195 or emails concerts@amherst.edu. Ticket prices are $28 for the general public; $22 for seniors and Amherst College employees; and $12 for students with ID.
