Description

This course advances skills in reading, speaking, understanding, and writing Russian, with materials from twentieth-century culture. Readings include fiction by Chekhov, Babel, Olesha, Nabokov, Tynianov, and others. Conducted in Russian, with frequent writing assignments and occasional grammar and translation exercises. Requisite: Russian 04 or equivalent. First-year students with strong high school preparation (usually 4 or more years) may be ready for this course. Fall semester. Professor Wolfson.
