Biochemical Principles 11.10.11 GR and Mitochondria

In the two papers linked via our E-Reserves, McEwen's group established the link between Glucocorticoid Receptors and Mitochondrial function.  The original 6 page 2008 paper in PNAS presents data on the effects of cortisol on mitochondrial activity.  In the addendum published in the 3 page 2009 communication in Communicative and Integrative Biology.

There are eight figures in the 2008 text and one in the 2009 addendum.  Sign up to talk about one (evening) or two (morning) of the figures from the 2008 paper in Thursday's presentation.  All should look at and understand the model in Figure 1 of the 2009 addendum.
