Students who enroll in this course will likely encounter and be expected to engage in the following intellectual skills, modes of learning, and assessment: Emphasis on targeted skills, themes, and expectations will be jointly determined by the student and instructor; instruction in languages other than English. The Chinese language courses at Amherst emphasize the basic linguistic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
