This is an introductory class on Latin American feminist traditions and social movements since the turn of the twentieth century up to today’s conversations around gender identity, human rights, decoloniality and sexual violence. The course is organized into three sections: 1) women’s social movements , 2) Latin American theories of patriarchy and gendered/sexual violence and 3) sexual diversity and difference, and the contemporary transgender movement.
