The purpose of the Faculty Handbook is to provide all members of the faculty, particularly those who are new to Amherst, with information about the policies, regulations, practices, and expectations that prevail at Amherst College.

Faculty Meetings

The Faculty Executive Committee sets the dates and agendas for faculty meetings (see link below). The meetings are held in Converse Hall’s Cole Assembly Room, which is known informally as “the Red Room.” Ahead of each meeting, the agenda is posted (see the link below) for those who are eligible to attend the meetings.

Questions should be directed to the Office of the Provost and Dean of the Faculty.

Faculty Committees

Minutes of meetings of the Committee of Six from fall 2018 to spring 2022 and of the Faculty Executive Committee from fall 2022 forward are available to all Amherst faculty and staff. There is a general expectation of confidentiality in regard to all minutes. They should not be shared with anyone who is not officially entitled to receive them. Minutes of faculty meetings are also available to faculty and staff.
