PrEP stands for pre-exposure prophylaxis. It involves taking a daily medication to reduce the chance of infection from the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. Resources are available to cover the cost of prescription copays.

PrEP is part of a comprehensive prevention strategy to help prevent the spread of HIV. This includes follow up testing every three months and stressing the importance of safer sex practices.

If you think you are at high risk of exposure to HIV please consider contacting the Health Center for an appointment. You can call us at (413) 542-2267, email us at healthservice@amherst.edu , or stop by the Front Desk in person.
