Welcome to the Office of Sponsored Research and Foundation Relations
The Amherst College Office of Sponsored Research and Foundation Relations (OSRFR) helps faculty members find external funding to advance their research and teaching. It also pursues foundation and government grants to support College programs and priorities. In both roles, the office works closely with the Office of the Provost and Dean of the Faculty and Research Administration in the Controller’s Office.
The Grant Process
We can help you through each stage of the grant process, whether you're ready to find and apply for grants or want support while stewarding your post-award relationship with a funder.
Services routinely provided by our office include: identifying funding opportunities; reviewing project fit with sponsor guidelines; creating proposal development timelines; assisting with proposal review and budget development; facilitating and formalizing relationships with collaborative partners; initiating the internal approval process; and ensuring compliance for grant seekers with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.
Our Directors serve as Authorized Organizational Representatives, conducting final review and submission for all proposals. The office is also available to assist with non-financial post-award management, serving as a liaison with funders, assisting with contract negotiation, providing support for extension and reallocation requests, and helping draft reports and track progress on institutional projects.
