Professor Stanley J. Rabinowitz, Henry Steele Commager Professor of Russian and Emeritus in the Departmants of European Studies and Russian, presented in our second episode of the Reflections on Teaching series on March 21, 2019.
Professor Rabinowitz discusses his key take-aways from teaching at Amherst College. His final reflection on his approach to teaching was the following: “I do not assume that any student in a class knows why they are there. They have to experience it to discover why they are there.”
