Class of 2024 seating chart and instructions PDF

  1. Your position in the procession is listed in the seating chart.
  2. The seats for the graduating class are numbered in accordance with the layout on the other side of this handout. The number next to your name is the number of the seat that you will occupy. Please sit in the chair with your assigned number, EVEN if the chair next to you is empty.
  3. At the beginning of the awarding of the degrees, Provost Epstein will ask the candidates for degrees to present themselves, at which point the entire first row — seats 1 through 27 — will rise and proceed in a single line to the stage via the ramp to the right, always remaining in numerical order.
  4. Succeeding rows should follow the procedures above, waiting to stand and exit their rows until signaled by
    Commencement staff.
  5. Stop when you reach the top of the ramp. Do not proceed on stage until you hear your name called. When prompted, walk towards President Elliott to accept your diploma tube.
  6. After you receive your diploma from President Elliott, proceed across the stage to receive your cane. At the bottom of the ramp pause to have your photograph taken, then return to the seating area. Enter your row from the beginning, locate your assigned seat, and sit down.
  7. When the final names have been called and the class is again seated, Provost Epstein will then ask the entire class to rise. President Elliott will acknowledge the Class of 2024. This is your opportunity to throw your cap. Following this celebration all graduates should immediately sit down.
  8. At the conclusion of Commencement, the recessional will form as follows: honorary marshal, faculty marshal, president, chairman of trustees, faculty, class marshals, then the graduates via the order that they are seated.
