The Controller’s Office approves all grant budget modifications.  Changes to your budget should be requested prior to incurring expenses that are over budget.  Depending on the funding agency, the Senior Research Administrator can modify some grant budget categories without getting agency approval.  However many agencies and situations will require prior approval.  Budget modification requests should be sent to the Senior Research Administrator by email.  Please include your project number, the amount you are requesting to move, and which accounts funds are being transferred between.  Please also include the reason for the requested budget modification.  If it is determined that agency approval is needed, the Senior Research Administrator will work with the PI to prepare the request.  The Controller’s Office then sends the request to the agency.
