A portrait of Biddy Martin
As Biddy Martin wrapped up her 11-year presidency this spring, students showed her the love in the form of handwritten notes. They created these messages during the City Streets festival held on the Greenway Quad in April. Martin founded the annual event in 2013, and it has become a beloved campus tradition.

Chris Tun ’25 caught up with Martin at the festival, asking her: What will you miss most? Martin replied that she’ll miss the people, the natural beauty and the intellectual life. “There’s almost nothing,” she said, “that I won’t miss.”

The note cards show the feeling is mutual. Memo Rodriguez ’22 told Tun, “It’s her last City Streets, and she started it, so we wanted her to feel loved and appreciated.”
