Spring to Summer Transition Housing
May 15 to June 10, 2024
Who is eligible for transitional housing?
Available only to spring residents hired to work commencement, reunion, and select essential campus initiatives (housing available only during employment), students with extenuating circumstances, and international students who cannot travel due to international limitations. Students must also have a Spring 2024 housing assignment.
Ineligible students include:
Students who are not committed to the College until after June 10, 2024 and students who do not have Spring 2024 housing assignments
What does moving into transitional housing look like?
Moving into transition housing will occur on a rolling basis as rooms are vacated and prepared. Residents must be prepared to move within 48 hours notice between May 20 and June 7, 2024. Alternative move dates are unavailable.
Transitional 2024 Housing Request—Approval and Follow Up Email

Please let us know when your last final ends so that we can prepare your move into your Transitional Housing assignment. We expect students to move into their Transitional Housing assignment within 24 hours after receiving their notice.

Please note: If you have also applied for summer housing, the decisions and if appropriate, the housing placement will be sent in a separate email. All summer housing keys will be available on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 38 Woodside.
You may need to relocate before your anticipated move-out date and we will follow up with your assignment as soon as we are able. Students with spring housing assignments in the following buildings may not need to relocate prior to June 7, 2024 (Chapman, Humphries, Marsh, Moore, Newport, Plimpton, Seligman, Tyler, Valentine).
- Why? From now through mid-June, the campus will be busy with move-out, Commencement, housing for graduates’ families and guests, Reunions, and more! Rooms are cleaned for each purpose.
- Where? Once a room is prepared in a Transitional Housing building, we will notify you as quickly as possible of your Transitional Housing assignment. We are not able to take hall-specific requests for this period, as assignments are based exclusively on room availability.
- When? Once a space is confirmed vacated and Custodial Services cleans the space, we will make your assignment and email you. It will be critical that you complete your room change within 24 hours, as your Spring 2024 assignment will be used quickly following your move-out.
- Wednesday, May 15, 2024: the earliest transitional assignments will become available.
- Sunday, May 19, 2024: approximately half of all transitional students will receive their transitional assignments.
- Thursday, May 23, 2024: last day for all non-grads in spring assignments for non-grads.
Please note: On-campus housing supervisors/advisors should be aware that your move is of urgent priority to support the College’s efforts to create a welcoming space for Commencement guests and Reunion alumni, and your move is your first priority. Please make every effort to move outside of your scheduled working hours; however, you may need to communicate with your supervisor if your move is not yet complete.
Further note: Your approval for Transitional Housing is dependent upon your commitment to work during the period. Failure to report for an assigned role during the Transitional period will result in a referral to Community Standards, a termination of your ID card access, and either loss of on-campus housing, or a charge to your student account for the housing and meals associated with that period ($200-$600). Students will be required to move out of their transitional placements 24 hours after their termination from their advisor/supervisor. If you are interested in storage for this period, Boomerang Storage now offers storage for this period! (4 medium boxes and registration total $230). Subsidy requests are due by May 10, 2024.
Return your room key upon departure from each housing assignment. When you move out of your Spring 2024 room, be sure to let us know HERE.
