He teaches the first-year MBA course in Leadership and Organizational Behavior (LEAD) and a Ph.D. course on the craft of field research. His teaching and research address topics related to leadership, collaboration, teamwork, design thinking, and learning in organizations.

Kate is a graduate of Amherst College and serves on the Boards of the Lab School of Washington, Everybody Wins DC and The Tax Coalition.

(Costello) Kelly ā€™84, Pā€™12 is a Funding and Liquidity Risk Specialist within the Financial Institution Supervision division of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Prior to joining the New York Fed in 2012, Liz held senior Corporate Treasury positions at MBNA America Bank, GMAC Financial Services (now Ally Financial) and Wilmington Trust. Her areas of expertise include debt and equity issuance, cash management, banking relationship management, risk management and regulatory issues relating to liquidity and capital. She began her career in the Public Finance Department of Kidder, Peabody & Company in 1984 and also spent six years in private school admissions at Canterbury School (New Milford, CT) and Ursuline Academy (Wilmington, DE). Liz received a BA in Economics from Amherst College.

Prior to assuming this role in 2009, he was a member of the Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) Group, which he joined in 1993. Michael joined Goldman Sachs in Corporate Finance in New York in 1988 and worked in the Hong Kong office from 1991 to 1993. He was named managing director in 1997 and partner in 2000.

Prior to joining the firm, Michael was an analyst with McKinsey & Co.

Michael works on behalf of the Amherst College Alumni Fund and the Stanford Business School Alumni Fund. He also serves as treasurer on the board of Pathways to College, a nonprofit organization that works towards expanding the pipeline to college in selected underserved communities.

Michael earned an MBA from Stanford University in 1988 and a BA from Amherst College in 1984.

Volpert has been responsible for over $7 billion of private equity investments in more than 50 companies from 1989 to 2014 at Goldman and Crestview. He specializes in complex and contrarian investment themes arising out of major dislocations or restructurings. Notable investments include Goldman's acquisition of Rockefeller Center and Crestview's investment in Charter Communications. Volpert received a JD, magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review.  He received an MBA, with high distinction, from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar. He received a BA from Amherst College, summa cum laude, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in his junior year. From 1981 to 1982, he was a Luce Scholar in Singapore working for the Straits Times. Volpert currently serves as a director of Key Safety Systems, Oxbow Carbon and ValueOptions. He is a member of the Dean's Advisory Board at Harvard Law School, a director of the Private Equity and Growth Capital Council and an elected council member of the Sagaponack Village Erosion Control District.

Woglom, Richard S. Volpert '56 Professor of Economics, received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Yale University. He has taught at Amherst since 1978. His courses and scholarly work are focused on the related questions of: when do markets work well and when do they fail.
