Getting Started with Moodle

Friday, January 27th, 2:30 p.m., Seeley Mudd 115
Come learn the basics or get a refresher on setting up and customizing your Moodle site. 
 
We will review:
  1. Basic concepts of how Moodle works at Amherst: how to find your sites, how students get access,how the reserves systems work.
  2. Site formats: setting your site to use a weekly or topics-based format.
  3. Adding content to your site: how to add additional files, media, or information 
  4. Communication: how to use Moodle for class communications and discussion via email or forums

Assignments in Moodle

Friday, February 3rd, 2:30 p.m., Seeley Mudd 115
 
The assignment activity in Moodle can save faculty time when keeping track of and responding to student work. We will go over how to set up an assignment for students to submit work, and how to use bulk actions to download, grade, and upload feedback files back to Moodle all at once.
 
We will also cover how to control the timing of when grades and feedback are released to students, and how to use advanced grading features like rubrics.

Gradebook Basics

Friday, February 10th, 2:30 p.m., Seeley Mudd 115
This session will cover setting up your Moodle grade book to match the grading strategy of your course. We will cover basic weighting methods as well as how to set up grading categories.
